How was your UK Tour from earlier this year?
So the UK run was part of a larger two and a half month European and U.S run so um it was right in the middle just about um so we came to the UK July 5th through the 12th and it was just amazing it felt so good to be back on the road after so many years of not being able to do what I love to do it was really just a very very special trip.
I bet you felt more closer to your fan base than ever before?
I did um I think I mean there was one man in particular in the UK that that it really made me tear up at the merch table he came after the Leeds show and he had the original ticket from 2020. and he said that he never got a refund for the show because he wanted to keep the ticket because he knew I’d be back and he wanted me to sign it and you know I teared up it was like not only have I waited a long time to come back but people have been so looking forward to it which is so special.
Did you have a particular city or town you enjoyed the most while performing in the UK?
Honestly it’s hard for me to choose in the UK because we are in and out we arrive in each City the afternoon of and then we are gone at like 7 A.M the next day so we don’t have a lot of time to do stuff because we play every single night in a different city but I do have to say I don’t know we have a lot of friends in the Birmingham area so um for me that’s always a really fun city because we get to see everybody.
What was the type of food you ate while touring the UK?
I actually um eat vegan I I don’t like to say I am vegan because I’m a cheating vegan with being vegetarian sometimes um but it’s been 14 years so at home in the states I eat vegan but when I’m abroad I eat vegetarian because sometimes I mean when you’re traveling it’s really really hard um so I do have to say though that Europe and the UK has come such a long way in terms of vegan and vegetarian food. In 2019 our last four I mean they were many weeks where I was actually starving I I couldn’t find I’d go to restaurants in Germany and like be able to eat sauerkraut no joke um and this time they’re every menu vegan schnitzel and dairy free this and vegan that and so even in the UK. I mean everywhere I went I there were vegan fast food burger joints like everywhere it was so so cool to see so um I would have to say if I had to pick honestly this was so boring but there were some incredible salads in Germany that I will remember forever like real fresh fruit in them and like I don’t know it was just the food on this trip was outrageous. I do tour Vlogs I released the first one they’re gonna be every Saturday from now until December actually there’s so many episodes for this trip because there’s so much going on I kept laughing that it was like the eating tour because every five seconds of the Vlog it’s like now we’re eating this.
Jessica Discussed Her New Single Ain’t Done With You Yet A Few Weeks Ago
So that’s interesting actually I have two co-writers on that song Tommy and Dee they’re both from Belgium I met that crew of guys back in 2017. A stroke of luck when I came to France in 2016 for my first ever International date that was really like on a hope and a dream I had been invited to this one Festival that then wound up kicking off my entire European career at that one date turned into two months overseas the next year. Which was incredible but I had known this man Dee because he was the international marketing director for a guitar company that I was working with at the time and we had met at a guitar event actually it was a private party where Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead was playing so I’m standing just like this far away from him watching him play and he is next to me which was a really cool experience and he was like yeah we should get together sometime or do something together so we kept in touch. Turns out he worked it was like a staff writer at a world-renowned studio in Belgium with a producer Patrick Hamilton who’s produced for artists like Katherine Jenkins and Andrea Bocelli and he’s never done country. So I I’m a big believer that nothing happens by accident this studio that he worked at was 40 minutes from that France festival out of all the places in the world so I went there as like a little trial to kind of write together the producer wanted to dabble in country and thought I would be a good start to that Journey so we wound up really hitting it off and out of that session came after party and create the idea which to this day are two of my most popular songs. So I’ve obviously remained very good friends with the guys since then and about a year ago Dee came to me he’s like hey I have this guitar player friend Tommy and he has this riff what do you think of it and he sent me a a little voice memo and I was like oh I love that that’s so cool it’s like kind of 70s rockish feeling and he was like yeah and I have this title ain’t done with you yet do you want to write it so we got on Zoom and we wrote the whole tune and it wound up being about you know you’re never giving up on a relationship relationships are hard but you know I’m not done with you yet we’ve still got a lot more to fight for and the song it went number one on the day of release in Switzerland and it charted in the USA and it’s a UK and it was just a really really exciting it’s exciting when music that you’re passionate about make a difference.
What’s Next For You In 2023
Next up is releasing new music we’re already working on the new singles and stuff to come out I have a plan for the next two already we’re almost finished recording the next one and then we do a bunch of fall shows we’re touring all throughout October starting a week and a half already from now so not a lot of down time. Then the end of the year gets even busier we every year for the last seven years I’ve done a very big Christmas show yeah a Christmas Spectacular show in New York it’s become Toys for Tots largest fundraiser of the entire season and it’s grown from a little tiny dream of mine to spelling out 1200 seats a year with a waiting list so it’s been an incredible journey that show it’s called Jessica Lynn’s a very merry Country Christmas. You can see the whole show from last year and the year before on YouTube and this year we are taking it on the road in a very big way so our Christmas tour will start on Thanksgiving actually so I will be gone all winter and I’m very stressed a lot to prepare it’s a huge show with dancers special effects all new music I mean it’s it’s a huge undertaking costuming visuals um but I am so excited about it and I’m so excited to be bringing it to so many different places.
